Actor Owen Wilson distraught over blowup with friend

first_imgOwen Wilson’s reported suicide attempt came after a bitter blowup with a close pal. The 38-year-old comedic actor, who is regarded in Hollywood as a financial success, was in good condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, from where he issued a statement through his publicist yesterday asking “that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.” He was hospitalized Sunday, first at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, then at Cedars-Sinai, after reportedly overdosing and slicing one of his wrists. There has been speculation that Wilson was depressed over his recent breakup with Kate Hudson, but sources told the New York Post that it did not contribute to his emotional turmoil. Instead, the incident occurred shortly after a vicious quarrel with an unidentified friend, the Post reported. Wilson likely will remain under the close watch of doctors for at least the next several days, one source told The Post. One Wilson neighbor told the newspaper that that when she heard the ambulance Sunday, she was surprised because the actor never causes any trouble. “All the neighbors like him, he’s a friendly guy. He never has any crazy parties or does anything wrong,” Betty Miller said. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
