A new coronavirus symptom may have emerged: ‘Covid tongue.’Tim Spector, a British researcher, and professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London, has been helping to track warning signs of COVID-19, NBC News reports. He is reporting increasing cases of covid-positive people complaining of tongue discoloration, enlargement, and other oral problems. Spector said more than a third of infected patients do not have the typical symptoms of COVID-19 in the first three days so it’s important to look for other symptoms like covid toes, skin rashes and now covid tongue. A study published in the British Journal of Dermatology, found that more than a tenth of the over 650 covid patients studied had “oral cavity findings.” Researchers will still need to determine whether any mouth and tongue issues are indeed symptoms of COVID-19, NBC reports.
