And I personally want to drive those ridiculous schemes out of this industry.”Legere pointed to AT&T’s entry-level plan, whose costs immediately jump by $20 increments if customers exceed its 300MB limit. “That amounts to an obscene 44 per cent price hike on those customers least able to absorb overages and bill shock,” he said.On what he saw as pale (and short-lived) imitation offers from rivals, Legere said he “didn’t know whether to laugh or cringe as they try to present themselves as anything other than the merciless greedy utilities they are”.The CEO added that when Q1 2014 results are announced it will be “plain as day that we have got it right and they haven’t figured it out”. WATCH US LIVE Last Updated: 21st May, 2020 06:29 IST Browns’ Landry Ahead Of Schedule In Rehab From Hip Surgery Quarantine has allowed Browns Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry to focus even more on his recovery from off-season hip surgery. COMMENT Quarantine has allowed Browns Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry to focus even more on his recovery from off-season hip surgery.Landry, who opted for surgery in February after being slowed by an injury last season, said on a Zoom call Wednesday that his rehab has gone as well as expected and he’s “a little bit” ahead of schedule.Landry envisions being back on the field in August — assuming players are allowed to return in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.“Rehab process is going great,” Landry said from his Florida home. “It’s just a little difficult obviously, just some of the modality type of things I’ve been doing that obviously with quarantine and everything I haven’t been able to have access to. So that’s kind of been the toughest part of it.”Right now I’m a little bit ahead of schedule, but the most important thing right now is taking it day by day. I can’t predict when exactly I’ll be on the field, whether that’s July, August or September. But obviously my return date is sometime in August.”Landry didn’t miss a game last season despite a hip injury that flared up in training camp. The 27-year-old has never missed a game since breaking in with Miami in 2014 and said he’s determined to keep his streak intact.“That’s one of the goals that I would set out for myself since I was a kid watching ‘Monday Night Football,’” he said. “And it’s still something that’s in the back of my mind. Obviously I want to make sure that I’m going through this process the right way, too, and making sure that I’m healthy enough to be able to go out there and help the team win games and not hurt the team.”Landry finished with a team-high 83 catches for 1,174 yards and six touchdowns last season. In six seasons, he has 564 catches for 6,188 yards and 32 TDs.During the shutdown because of the virus outbreak, Landry has stayed in touch with good friend and teammate Odell Beckham Jr., who had surgery in January for a core muscle injury.“We’ve been Face-Timing,” Landry said. “We’ve been kind of documenting our whole process of recovery and sending it back and forth to each other. Obviously right now, it’s a crucial time in our recovery stages of getting our strength back. The healing process is kind of done. Now it’s time to make sure that everything’s working together.”NOTES: The Browns signed two 2020 draft picks: TE Harrison Bryant and WR Donovan Peoples-Jones to their rookie contracts. Bryant, the John Mackey Award winner last season from Florida Atlantic, was taken in the fourth round while People-Jones, who played at Michigan, was drafted in the sixth round. Landry and Peoples-Jones became friends before the draft and Landry has been impressed with his new teammate. “He has a lot of questions, which I admire about him,” Landry said. “He’s asking me about punters. He’s asking me about the team. He’s asking me about guys on the team. I see already he’s a hard worker. I see that he’s eager to learn.” Associated Press Television News FOLLOW US First Published: 21st May, 2020 06:29 IST Written By SUBSCRIBE TO US LIVE TV

But for Aurora resident Jonathan Jaramillo, the bigger the stage, the better. The 11-year-old modern dance phenom has made a name for himself among the Front Range dance community in recent years, consistently nabbing the top spot in breakdancing competitions and even appearing on an episode of “The Tonight Show” when it was under the helm of comedian Jay Leno. And this weekend, Jaramillo will be taking the biggest stage in his short yet decorated career when he performs in front of some 15,000 pop music aficionados and alongside the genre’s presiding prince, Justin Bieber. Jaramillo won a YouTube contest to dance with Justin Bieber on stage at his concert on April 4.Photo by Gabriel Christus/Aurora Sentinel “I’m just overwhelmed with excitement,” Jaramillo said. Jaramillo will perform a short dance routine onstage with Bieber, the pop star’s professional backup dancers and three other young dancers from the metro area during the singer’s performance of his song “Children” at his upcoming concert Monday at the Pepsi Center.“We are thrilled that he’s getting this opportunity because we know it’s something he’ll never forget,” said Desiree Jaramillo, Jonathan’s mom and manager. Also a student at Denver School of the Arts, Jonathan was one of four winners of a YouTube dance contest organized by Bieber’s creative director and choreographer, Nick DeMoura. Given just two days to memorize a roughly 30-second routine, Jonathan uploaded a video of himself performing the steps the first week of March and shortly thereafter learned he had beaten out dozens of other young dancers to co-win the contest.“We were so excited,” Desiree said. “I got the email when I was at work and I started crying at my desk all by myself. I was so proud.”Partial to any dance that allows him to pop and weave, Jonathan said that the Bieber routine is a sort of funky hip-hop.In recent weeks, Jonathan has been perfecting his Bieber steps at his home in southeast Aurora and at the Millennium Dance Complex in Centennial, one of two professional dance studios at which he studies. The other is School of Breaking on East Jewell Avenue in Aurora.Taryn Vincent, co-owner at Millennium, said that Jonathan’s reputation among the Front Range dance community preceded him.“I’d seen him dance several times, so as soon as he walked in (last year) I knew who he was,” Vincent said. “He has a little reputation for being awesome.”Jonathan, who has talent agents in both Los Angeles and Denver, said that he’s excited about the prospects the Bieber performance and subsequent exposure could yield.“I hope this will open a lot more doors for me,” he said.Desiree said that Monday’s performance could provide a glimpse at what Jonathan’s future might hold.“I think he’s really excited to get the experience of what it’s going to be like on a stage that large and get a look at what he can do when he gets older,” she said.

SHRM Advocacy Team Spotlight – Congressional Recess Activity by Sandra Sockwell, Shoals Chapter SHRMThe Shoals Chapter SHRM was pleased to host Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who presented the Chapter’s program at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club in Muscle Shoals, AL, on Thursday, August 14. Since he had visited our Chapter a time or two in the past, and we had visited him many times in regular SHRM Hill Visits, for this meeting we asked him to tell us what was going on in Washington, DC. He spent most of the time explaining his views on immigration reform. Very detailed, he laid out the reasons he and Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) are so adamant that reform be approached in a comprehensive way. We see that Rep. Brooks voted “Aye” on H.R. 2575, the “Save American Workers Act,” which defines full-time employees as working 40 hours instead of 30 as under Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Also, Rep. Brooks was listed as a new co-sponsor, along with several others, of the “Legal Workforce Act” (H.R. 1772), subtitled, “Supplying Knowledge-Based Immigrants and Lifting Levels of STEM Visas Act.” We believe these bills are good for America’s workforce and business—and that they support HR best practices. We are fortunate to have Rep. Brooks’ field representative, Laura Webb Smith, attend our Shoals Chapter meetings whenever her schedule permits. When the A-Team sent the first reminder about the then-upcoming August recess, I phoned her immediately and she arranged for the Representative to visit us since he would be home on our meeting date. It has been rewarding to have a field rep interested in helping an elected official realize how important the HR community is for supporting American business interests, as well as the interests of our several thousand employees represented by the Shoals Chapter’s members. When SHRM was encouraging officials during Hill Visits to support making Section 127 of the IRS Code permanent a few years ago, we encouraged Rep. Brooks, an economist by education, to check out the bill to see if he could/would support it. To our excitement, he signed on as a co-sponsor to that bill in the House! And it passed. Now that was a rush. We are encouraged to have such a relationship established with an elected official who values the input of his constituents and who arranges to visit us when District visits coincide with our meeting dates. We heartily encourage all Chapters to try a similar approach. Savvy staffers, we’ve found, blaze the way to an official’s schedule!Sandra Sockwell, Ph.D., SPHRShoals Chapter SHRMFlorence, ALSHRM A-Team Member To visit the SHRM Advocacy Team blog page, please click here.To visit the SHRM Policy Action Center, please click here.

The Brazilian, who has struggled to recapture the form he showed towards the end of last season, did not hold back when asked about the differences between Pioli and predecessor Marco Giampaolo. “I believe that with [Stefano] Pioli the team is more at ease. Before, someone was not in the right position or someone else in a position they didn’t like. “If a player plays in a position they prefer then they play better, and this is happening now.” Giampaolo is known for not communicating greatly with his players. Indeed, Fabio Quagliarella revealed in September that the former Sampdoria Coach only spoke to him “five or six times in three years”. The ex-Empoli boss also had a strained relationship with Paqueta, urging him to be “less Brazilian” in his approach. “Pioli is more direct in asking us certain things, and this has made things better for us. “When you receive too much information, you get a bit confused, but with him everything is clear.” The 22-year-old has made eight appearances for the Rossoneri this term, providing one assist.

Even within conferences, the schedules are wildly unbalanced. Some top teams try to run the table, while others build in tough road games to boost strength of schedule rankings. Rebuilding teams may look to feast on cupcakes, or subscribe to the “hottest fire forges the strongest steel” theory. The Big Ten is no different. A few months ago, we ranked the most difficult and easiest schedules ahead of the 2016 season. The league was well-represented on both lists, with three teams a piece. Now, we’re ranking the slates for all 14 teams in the conference.Which teams are challenging themselves this season, and which are scheduling for success? New Delhi: The Supreme Court Monday referred a batch of petitions challenging the Centre’s abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and related issues to its Constitution bench which would commence hearing on them on Tuesday. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi referred the pleas, which have also raised matters such as alleged restrictions imposed on the movement of journalists in Kashmir and illegal detention of minors in the Valley, to a 5-judge bench of the apex court. Several petitions have been filed challenging the Centre’s decision abrogating Article 370 provisions and bifurcating the state into Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The UTs will come into being on October 31. The Petitions have been filed by the National Conference, the Sajjad Lone-led JK Peoples Conference and several other individuals, including the first plea filed by advocate M L Sharma. Also Read – Trio win Nobel Medicine Prize for work on cells, oxygen The NC plea was filed by Lok Sabha MPs Mohammad Akbar Lone and Justice (retd) Hasnain Masoodi. Lone is a former speaker of the J&K Assembly and justice Masoodi a retired judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. In 2015, he had ruled that Article 370 was a permanent feature of the Constitution. Other pleas include the one filed by a group of former defence officers and bureaucrats. They have also sought directions declaring the presidential orders of August 5 “unconstitutional, void and inoperative”. It was filed by professor Radha Kumar, a former member of the Home Ministry’s Group of Interlocutors for Jammu and Kashmir (2010-11), former IAS officer of J&K cadre Hindal Haidar Tyabji, Air Vice Marshal (retd) Kapil Kak, Major General (retd) Ashok Kumar Mehta, former Punjab-cadre IAS officer Amitabha Pande and former Kerala-cadre IAS officer Gopal Pillai, who retired as the Union home secretary in 2011. A petition has also been filed by bureaucrat-turned-politician Shah Faesal, along with his party colleague and former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) leader Shehla Rashid. There are other petitions challenging the Centre’s decision on Article 370. The NC leaders submitted that the Presidential Orders paved the way for application of entire provisions of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir and also have the effect of nullifying Article 35A and completely abrogating Article 370. While challenging the Centre’s decisions to scrap provisions of the Article 370 that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and dividing it into two Union Territories, the two MPs have sought a direction to declare the Act and the Presidential Orders as “unconstitutional, void and inoperative”. They submitted that the apex court now has to examine whether the Union government can “unilaterally” unravel the unique federal scheme under the cover of President’s rule while undermining crucial elements of due process and rule of law. “This case, therefore, goes to the heart of Indian federalism, democratic processes and role of the apex court as the guardian of the federal structure,” the petition has said. They submitted that Article 370 was extensively considered as carefully drafted in order to ensure the peaceful and democratic accession of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir to the Indian Union. The two have contended that the Presidential Orders and the new legislation unconstitutionally undermine the scheme of Article 370. The first Presidential Order uses Article 370 (1)(d) — this was meant to apply other provisions of the Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir — to alter Article 370 itself and thereby the terms of federal relationship between the J-K and Union of India, they have submitted.

New Delhi: The reduction of the Repo rate by 25 bps to 5.15 per cent by RBI is widely in line with market expectations, said Punjab National Bank MD and CEO Mallikarjuna Rao . Further, RBI has continued with an accommodative stance, suggesting possibility of further rate cuts, if required. This rate cut will perfectly complement the fiscal measures announced by the government to help strengthen private consumption and spur investment activity going forward. In the backdrop of current macroeconomic setting of lower growth and range bound inflation, there may be a case for surplus liquidity to not only uplift the sentiment but also for effective rate transmission. The expected GDP growth rate has been justifiably revised downward to 6.1 per cent for 2019-20, given the hitherto weak domestic demand conditions. However going ahead, the easing of rates combined with the fiscal measures announced by the Government recently are expected to revive demand, thereby giving a fillip to the economic growth.
Mumbai: Prohibitory orders continued to be in force in Aarey Colony and surrounding areas for the second day on Sunday, as felling of trees was underway to make way for a Metro car shed, a police official said. Heavy security was deployed at Aarey Colony’s five entry points, including the key connecting road near the Western Express Highway, to prevent people from going towards the area and to avoid any untoward incident, he said. Most of the shops, restaurants and roadside stalls remained closed in the area in view of the imposition of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), banning unlawful assembly, since Saturday. Also Read – India gets first tranche of Swiss account details under automatic exchange framework The police official said the situation was expected to become normal soon. Patrolling was stepped up in the tribal hamlets located in Aarey area and those found assembling there were being taken into custody, but later let off after proper verification, he said. On Saturday, clashes broke out between the police and green activists who tried to stop tree cutting by Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) in Aarey Colony, leading to arrest of at least 29 people. Also Read – Afghan Taliban frees 3 Indian hostages in exchange for 11 top militant leaders: Reports The MMRCL started hacking trees from Friday night to make way for the car shed, hours after the Bombay High Court dismissed four petitions filed by NGOs and activists challenging the decision to allow felling of nearly 2,700 trees in the prime green lung of the city. “Several trees in the area have been cut and security has been tightened,” the police official said. He said that Section 144 of the CrPC will remain imposed in the area till the completion of cutting of the prescribed number of trees. “We have identified five major spots which are broadly used to get access into the Aarey Colony, including from the Western Express Highway, Marol police training camp centre and one route coming from Mulund side,” he said. “Police personnel have been deployed on all these spots. Pedestrians have been advised not to venture into five km area in the vicinity of Aarey Colony. Besides, those residing in the area need to show their Aadhaar cards to move around. We are ensuring that no one is allowed free access to the disputed area,” he said. Several senior police officials are on bandobast duty, he added. Earlier, opposition parties slammed the ruling BJP- Shiv Sena, stating they failed to save the trees. Yuva Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray also criticised the MMRCL and backed the protesters. The MMRCL has defended tree felling by contending that it is restricted only to a small area in Aarey Colony, and is necessary to ensure a modern transport system for Mumbaikars. The proposed car shed for the Metro-3 line (Colaba- Bandra-Seepz) will occupy 33 hectares.
