General Manager at the Transport Authority (TA) in charge of operations, Cecil Morgan, told JIS News that when the new system becomes effective, on Saturday (January 15), signs will be used to direct commuters. “We want to ensure that we have a very good transition, as it relates to going forward. The public must be advised of all the changes. The signs that are to be installed at the various locations to assist persons are pretty much on target,” he said. He advised that the Transport Authority was working closely with the National Works Agency (NWA) to ensure that there are adequate signs, to advise and direct the public where to go and on the changes being made. A public education campaign is also being executed. “We want to ensure that we have a very good transition going forward,” he said, adding that the public relations campaign will ensure that the public is advised of all the changes. The Transport Authority executive pointed out that, in addition to an increase in Transport Inspectors, there will be more traffic police officers on hand, and other stakeholders, to guide the process and ensure commuters can travel safely and with confidence to their destinations.

This so called ‘reverse auction’ will see the country’s broadcasters sell off unwanted spectrum for the first time, and has been in the making for four years, if you were to believe Wheeler. It also comes around when “carriers are relatively cash strapped”, Craig Moffett, senior research analyst at MoffettNathanson, told Mobile World Live.“Logistically, this is also an incredibly complex undertaking and there are a tremendous amount of moving parts,” he said. “The FCC deserves kudos for doing a remarkable job with the parts of the auction they can control. The wildcards are in the parts they can’t,” he added. In the grand scheme of things, Google’s omission could be of little impact, but, keep in mind, we are talking about a company with a lot of cash on the hip.Arguably, as Moffett suggests, operators likely to be involved are not in exactly the same position.Berge Ayvazian, senior analyst at Wireless 20/20, agrees, telling Mobile World Live “operators are now considering what they can spend on new spectrum, in light of available capital and debt they took on in the last auction”.“AT&T is highly leveraged after investments in DirecTV and Mexico, while Verizon and T-Mobile US have been selling off towers and other assets to help finance licence payments. This will undoubtedly affect their abilities to invest in the auction,” he added.Dampening expectations Operator woes aside, perhaps more worryingly for the FCC is the fact that Google is not the only high profile company to say it won’t be involved. Troubled Sprint said last year it would sit out, while cableco Charter Communication, in the midst of buying Time Warner Cable, also doesn’t seem to have the cash for new spectrum.Inevitably, forecasts for the auction are now taking a hit.Wireless 20/20 predicts it will fall well short of the AWS-3 figure, at a $25 billion to $30 billion spend, “now that Google, Sprint and Charter have announced they will not participate”.The analyst firm forecasts AT&T to be the highest bidder, spending up to $10 billion, with T-Mobile US in second, spending up to $8 billion.Ayvazian said there has been too much hype around 600MHz to begin with, mainly driven by the “FCC’s need to keep up momentum and reassure broadcasters there will be sufficient interest from carriers in buying the spectrum”.Financial services firm JP Morgan also made a similar prediction last week, predicting up to a $35 billion spend.Moffett agrees that “expectations have become somewhat inflated”, but still argues that the result of the auction really depends on the US’ two leading players.“Ultimately, what matters most is what Verizon and AT&T choose to spend. If Verizon’s cautious statements can be taken at face value, and I think they can, then we are likely to see a somewhat disappointing result.”Indeed, there have too been questions and concerns regarding FCC’s future plans for spectrum, from 29 March up to 2020, given the “insatiable” demand for spectrum that exists, as Ayvazian puts it, in the US for mobile data services.Controversially, industry group CTIA claimed last year there is no plan for spectrum after this very upcoming auction, a suggestion which Wheeler swiftly denied, and Moffett believes these questions could equally be directed to the government.“The questions about what spectrum we can expect to see next are in the hands of congress at least as much as they are in the hands of the FCC.”He also did not rule out another ‘dark horse’, as Google was expected to be, entering the fray late and pushing up the auction price.“It’s the nature of a dark horse that you don’t see them coming,” he said. “Even after filing the deadline, we don’t know who will turn out to be the big winner and who won’t, so there is always a chance that in six months we’ll all be taking about a big surprise winner.”Wireless 20/20 forecast: Tags Blog: Is balloon-powered internet a loony idea?

They weren’t at their best, but in the end it was thanks to Jordan’s brace that they emerged from this contest with a valuable win. While they were not at their free-flowing attacking best, the Crusaders showed a solid defensive backbone, especially in the second half when they had a few nail-biting moments on their own line. The Chiefs fired in patches. They troubled the Crusaders at the lineout, while their attack posed a threat whenever Aaron Cruden and Damian McKenzie ran at, and took on the defensive line. But ultimately, spurned chances, handling errors and a lack of decent territorial play counted against the visitors. The defeat was the Chiefs’ third consecutive in the competition, having lost their previous two encounters against the Highlanders and the Blues respectively. In front of a fairly decent crowd in Christchurch, the match got off to a shaky start thanks to challenging weather conditions. All Blacks Richie Mo’unga and McKenzie traded penalties to lock the scores up at three all, but the war of attrition continued well into the first half before the Crusaders struck the first significant blow when Jordan finished off a superb try seven minutes before the break.Completely out of nowhere, McKenzie was called to field an up-and-under, but he failed to secure possession in the air and the ball fell into the lap of Sevu Reece, who sprinted free before launching an accurate inside pass to Jordan, who did the rest. ‘ Post by SA Rugby magazine Crusaders fullback Will Jordan Posted in News, Super Rugby, Top headlines Tagged Chiefs, crusaders, NEWS, Super Rugby Aotearoa World Cup-winning Bok quartet in Eddie Jones’ all-time XVMaverick coach Eddie Jones has named his Test dream team made up of players he has worked with throughout his illustrious career.SA Rugby MagUndoLoans | Search AdsLooking for loan in Hong Kong? And again it was the Reece-Jordan partnership that did the trick. This time, they pounced on a Cruden mistake when the Chiefs flyhalf flung the ball into touch. ‘So Close’ featuring Ashland Craft is one of the album’s biggest surprises. The song is a sultry R&B-infused Country track and it features a very soulful vocal from Hardy. You hear him pushing his vocals in a direction you haven’t heard before and he soars on the explosive chorus. On ‘Hate Your Hometown’ Hardy injects some rock into the mix and his gritty voice sounds fantastic against the backdrop of heavier guitars, while on ‘Where Ya At’ he ups the tempo for a rousing Country anthem. Track list: 1. Truck 2. Boyfriend 3. Give Heaven Some Hell 4. Boots 5. Where Ya At 6. Ain’t a Bad Day 7. One Beer (feat. Lauren Alaina and Devin Dawson) 8. So Close (feat. Ashland Craft) 9. Broke Boy 10. Hate Your Hometown 11. Unapologetically Country As Hell 12. A Rock Record label: Big Loud Release date: 4th September 2020 Buy A Rock Mississippi native Hardy was enjoying plenty of success as a songwriter before he decided to step into the artist spotlight himself. He co-wrote singles for Florida Georgia Line (‘Simple’, ‘Talk You Out Of It’), Blake Shelton (‘God’s Country’) and Morgan Wallen (‘Up Down’). In 2018 and 2019 he released EPs and last year he unleashed his well-received Hixtape, Vol 1, which saw him collaborating with 17 artists. At the moment Hardy is riding high in the US with his single ‘One Beer’ featuring Lauren Alaina and Devin Dawson, and today he’s released his debut album ‘A Rock’. Credit: Big Loud ‘A Rock’ is a storming debut from Hardy. It builds on the promise that we’ve seen over the last couple of years and delivers a cohesive body of work that marks him out as one of the big new stars of the genre. Any of the songs on here could be singles and the record could very well see him blow up in the genre. A confident and assured collection, ‘A Rock’ showcases Hardy’s talents as a songwriter and an artist, and it will definitely put him on more people’s radars. Elsewhere on the record the ballad ‘Ain’t a Bad Day’ could very well give Hardy a huge radio hit, ‘Unapologetically Country As Hell’ embraces rising star’s redneck side, and ‘Broke Boy’ combines shimmering guitars with a steady beat for one of the album’s highlights. The title track, ‘A Rock’ closes the record and it’s the most vulnerable track here. It’s refreshing to hear Hardy with a stripped-back production and it allows the more soulful side of his voice to shine. In the lead-up to ‘A Rock’ Hardy has been showcasing his versatility as both a singer and a writer. Fans have been treated to several songs including the Florida Georgia Line-esque ‘Give Heaven Some Hell’, the surprisingly romantic ‘Boyfriend’ and the Country boy anthem ‘Truck’. The variety heard between those songs is a good indication of what to expect from ‘A Rock’. All of the 12 songs on the record are distinguishable from each other with Hardy trying different sounds and styles on every track.

Marta Sans and Soledad Calderon Arroyo were ahead 4-2 at the 1 position against Joana Vale Costa and Noel Scott, but that match went unfinished after the Tigers wrapped up the first point.

It’s inevitable… a few times a week, my system slows to a crawl doing seemingly mundane tasks. Moving from one application to the next, or even navigating our intranet becomes a trial of patience. Originally I thought it was the application set I was using on a daily basis. Enterprise resource planning, internet browsers, development studios, mail and instant messenger clients. Each of these a known resource hog vying for what little available scraps of memory my system would cough up.After some hallway grumbling with my co-workers, I turned my attention to not what I was running but what was being run for me. Automatic backup utilities, automatic patching software, and in the anti-virus suite with its omnipotent host intrusion protection. These applications lurk in the background, helping to keep us safe from the pitfalls of the electronic age. They are absolutely necessary to protect our company and its stockholders, but the value can come at a high cost.Any one of these apps coupled with your normal application load can bring an older system to its knee’s on its own, but how about your backup utility kicking off while your antivirus software is in mid-scan as you happen to be running collaboration software sharing out a debug session in your development studio. Not pretty. The productivity loss is cumulative… two minutes here, five minutes there, ten minutes for a reboot after a hard crash. Soon you’ve lost an hour or two over the course of the week, or a day or two over the course of a month. These things can be minimized by having systems capable of handling the multiple application loads that both the users need, and the ever shifting security environment requires. The threats won’t ever go away. More than likely, they will get worse and the applications needed to stop them will get bigger and more resource intensive.

Even within conferences, the schedules are wildly unbalanced. Some top teams try to run the table, while others build in tough road games to boost strength of schedule rankings. Rebuilding teams may look to feast on cupcakes, or subscribe to the “hottest fire forges the strongest steel” theory. The Big Ten is no different. A few months ago, we ranked the most difficult and easiest schedules ahead of the 2016 season. The league was well-represented on both lists, with three teams a piece. Now, we’re ranking the slates for all 14 teams in the conference.Which teams are challenging themselves this season, and which are scheduling for success? Here is our ranking of the Big Ten’s schedules by difficult.Next: No. 14 ??? >>>Pages: Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Page 9 Page 10 Page 11 Page 12 Page 13 Page 14 Page 15
United Nations: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to articulate his government’s ambitions on renewable energy and make a call for a coalition for disaster resilient infrastructure at UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ High-Level Climate Action Summit on Monday. Modi is among the first set of speakers at the Summit’s opening ceremony, a highly significant gesture given that only those Heads of State, Government and Ministers are invited to speak at the summit who will have any positive development to announce on climate action. Also Read – India gets first tranche of Swiss account details under automatic exchange framework India’s important role and contribution to global climate action efforts have been underlined by the fact that Modi is the fourth speaker at the Summit, after Guterres, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and President of Marshall Islands Hilda Heine. German Chancellor Angela Merkel will speak after Modi. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin told PTI here that India’s approach to climate action is multifaceted because anything that we do has an impact, which is global in nature. Also Read – Trio win Nobel Medicine Prize for work on cells, oxygen He said the Indian Prime Minister could articulate his ambition towards renewable energy as well as propose a coalition of nations for disaster resistant infrastructure, similar to India’s leadership of the International Solar Alliance. So we are not looking at one area, one segment, we are looking at certainly renewable energy because energy is a key component. Also we are an energy-thirsty country so our needs of energy are huge and renewables are increasingly going to play a key role in that. What PM Modi will perhaps articulate is his ambition for renewables in the future beyond what was promised in 2015, Akbaruddin said. The Paris Climate Agreement was signed in 2015 and aims to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping a global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Modi has said that India has a capacity of 4GW and the country has set a target of adding 100 GW of solar power by 2022. Guterres, while speaking to a select group of journalists at a special luncheon last week, said that in the Climate Action Summit only those Heads of State and Government and members of coalitions will speak who come with positive steps. So there is a kind of a ticket. You can speak only if you have come to announce something positive, he said. Guterres said while the UN is not making judgments about climate action efforts by nations, he asked them if they are ready to announce a positive development at the summit before inviting them to speak at it. If you have positive things to announce, you will be given the floor (at the Climate Action Summit). That was the criteria. Those who are ready to increase their efforts, we want them to speak. Those that do not want to increase their efforts, have nothing to announce, they can speak in other meetings, Guterres said. It is noteworthy that only around 63 nations have been invited to speak at the summit. The US, Brazil and Japan are not speaking at the high-level event. Akbaruddin further said that India is expected to talk about the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, a group of about 30 plus countries that will work towards common goals of having infrastructure, which is resilient to climate and disaster. India is working with countries like the UK and small island states like Fiji and Maldives who face problems of climatic nature. “So (India) will bring to the table this coalition as a tangible demonstration of our willingness to work in partnerships, he said. Akbaruddin added that India has the ability to convene people or countries that are not only geographically different but economically diverse as well. India, a member of the G-20, has many friends who are developing countries. So what we intend to do is to leverage that ability to work across the board and to bring to the table a group of countries who are ready to address issues of infrastructure. Whenever there is a cataclysmic climate event, infrastructure gets undermined and overwhelmed very quickly, and it becomes very difficult for developing countries or countries who do not have economic wherewithal to address these, he said. Further, India is expected to address issues about water preservation and sustainable use of energy by the transport sector. India is a water stress country and efforts we will do about preservation of water, how we will try and address water related issues is another major aspect, he said. Akbaruddin further said that transport and heavy transport are key users of energy and India will see how it can address the challenges and make them more sustainable. There are a whole host of issues that we will address in a holistic manner, but all will be tangible, very action-oriented and will be focused, he said. The Climate Action Summit will see leaders make national statements, followed by statements of coalitions and national statements again.

Buriram (Thailand): Marc Marquez sealed his sixth MotoGP world title in Thailand on Sunday after storming to victory in a heart-pounding final corner duel with Fabio Quartararo at the Chang International Circuit, but said it had not been an “easy” year as the frontrunner. The win in Buriram gives him an insurmountable lead over closest rival Andrea Dovizioso with four races left in the season. Spain’s Marquez finished in 39min 36.223sec just ahead of 20-year-old rookie Frenchman Quartararo with another Spaniard Maverick Vinales third. He was hoisted atop the hands of supporters in celebration. Starting from third on the grid, Honda’s Marquez quickly slipped by Vinales and spent most of the race trying to overcome Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha) who led from pole position. Quartararo held the lead through 25 of the 26 laps but Marquez made his move on the final circuit, flying past the leader as the crowd screamed in delight. Also Read – Djokovic to debut against Shapovalov at Shanghai Masters Marquez told reporters that it was now “time to enjoy it” after a high-pressure season with many competitors clamouring to topple the reigning champion. “Everybody is looking to beat you, it’s not easy,” a relieved-looking Marquez said. He also described the 2019 season as his best ever in MotoGP. With six premier class titles, the 26-year-old Honda superstar now pushes past Australian legend Mick Doohan. He trails only Italian great Valentino Rossi, who won the last of his seven championships in 2009, and Giacomo Agostini, whose record eight came in 1975. – ‘Tough Contender’ – ===================== But Quartararo is fast emerging as one of Marquez’s toughest rivals, and the champion gave him his due. “I didn’t expect this guy,” he said of Quartararo, calling him “the outsider”. “He will be a very tough contender next year for the championship.” Quartararo admitted that he was “really frustrated” at losing in such a close fight to the finish but recognised that it was a great result considering who he was up against. “We tried until the last corner,” he said. Marquez went into the race with such a comfortable lead that he did not necessarily need to finish first to clinch the championship. The stunning performance in Buriram, a rural town in northeastern Thailand that has banked its development on sports infrastructure, also came after Marquez crashed hard in practice on Friday and had to go to hospital. But the fierce competitor was declared fit to race and rebounded to finish third in qualifying. Marquez won the inaugural race in Buriram last year in another last-corner thriller against Dovizioso. Clear skies prevailed after a downpour soaked the track on Saturday, delaying start times and creating slippery conditions for riders. Italy’s Luca Marini won the Moto2 while Albert Arenas from Spain grabbed the Moto3 victory.
