Residents Say Sweltering Heat Persists At Friendship Tower

first_imgAdd to My List In My List Residents of Atlanta’s Friendship Tower apartment building say the sweltering heat inside is continuing, despite assurances from the building’s managers that the air conditioning has been fixed.Tenant Linda Brooks tells WSB-TV that cool air hasn’t reached some of the units and hallways.Residents have pleaded with Friendship Baptist Church, which owns the building, to fix what tenants said was a faulty air conditioning system that allowed temperatures inside to soar.Lloyd Hawk, president of Friendship Tower Inc., said last week that new cooling units are operating at full capacity.But Derrick Boazman, a former Atlanta City Council member, said “experimentation” with the building’s cooling system should end and that residents should be moved out.The Associated Press’ phone calls and emails to church officials haven’t been returned.
