Gaming challenge platform IKON has officially launched, allowing players to challenge friends and fans.At the time of launch, IKON supports League of Legends and PlayerUnknown’s Battle Grounds (PUBG). More supported titles – including Apex Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – are set to be officially announced in the coming days and weeks. Image credit: IKONIKON is a piece of software that runs alongside a game, recording your gameplay as you go. Once the game is over, the software provides clips of your best moments and has an editing suite so the clips can be customised. From there, it allows you to share videos to social media to challenge others.Jonathan Weinberg, CEO of IKON discussed the platform in a release: “IKON, at its core, is a platform for players and creators to create new experiences for their friends and followers. Challenge and creativity is the backbone of gaming – so we wanted to create an awesome sandbox for creators to use challenges as a way to be a part of their fans’ gameplay even when they’re done streaming.” Image credit: IKONIKON has options for monetization and is seen as another means of interacting with fans. The software is already populated with challenges set by beta users and gaming brands, though anybody can create challenges. Esports Insider says: It’s an interesting concept to appeal to gamers’ competitive nature in a way other than attending events or playing online tournaments. Fostering fans and a community on social media is an important aspect of remaining relevant in today’s climate so there appears to be a market for IKON.Subscribe to ESI on YouTube

Houston Baptist finished seventh at last year’s championship but is the second-ranked team heading into this year’s tournament. The Huskies return second-team all-conference pick Rachel Mulkey. The senior from Flower Mound, Texas, was the top Husky finisher last year at 17-over par, tied for 15th. This season, the Huskies have never finished outside of the top five in a tournament and have claimed two team titles. HBU won both of its crowns in October with a win at the Sam Houston State Harold Funston Invitational, Oct. 6-7, and followed that up with a win at the UAB Fall Beach Bash, Oct. 27-28. TEE TIMES | CHAMPIONSHIP PAGEFRISCO, Texas – The 14th annual Southland Conference Women’s Golf Championship tees off Monday at the Hill Course at Stonebridge Country Club in McKinney, Texas. The 6,262-yard par 72 will be hosting its first Southland tournament. UIW, which is not eligible to earn the Southland’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament during its transition period from Division II to Division I, will be participating in this year’s tournament unattached. If the Cardinals were to win the event, the team finishing in second place will move on to represent the Southland in an NCAA regional. Eight Southland universities field a women’s golf team: Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, UIW, Lamar, McNeese State, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The conference tournament is slated to tee off Monday at 8 a.m. Pairings are based on team seeding, which is calculated using the Golfstat rankings. Players will play 18 holes of golf Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 a.m. This year will mark the third consecutive year the Southland women’s golf that the championship will be held at a truly neutral site. Lamar has won the most Southland tournament titles with five, including the last two tournaments, followed by Sam Houston State with two and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with one. Lamar has the highest conference Golfstat ranking entering this season’s tournament. Last season, the Lady Cardinals led from the opening round and claimed their second straight and fifth overall league crown. Lamar is looking to become the first team to win three consecutive women’s titles. Lamar returns two first-team and two second-team all-conference selections, including last season’s freshman of the year Wenny Chang. The sophomore from Hsinchu, Taiwan, was a first-team all-conference pick and tied for seventh in last season’s championship along with teammate Nghi Ngo at 12-over par.
