He also noted that Bubba Watson won last year at 25-under par, and it probably will take something around that to win.“I know that’s a tall order since I’ve been away from the game for so long and I’ve made a lot of different changes in my game,” he said. “Physically and also equipment, practice schedules, training, all that has evolved. The mindset of competing hasn’t. That is to go out there and try to beat these guys.”He still is working with swing coach Chris Como, whom he brought on two years ago. Now that Nike is out of the equipment business, Woods is using a TaylorMade driver and fairway metals, a Bridgestone golf ball and his old Scotty Cameron putter that he used to win all but one of his 14 majors. But it starts with playing.“Put it this way: It’s a lot better situation this year than last,” Woods said. “I just couldn’t get out of bed. I needed help. It was a tough, tough time. You asked me then, ‘Could I play?’ No. I can’t even get out of bed. How am I supposed to swing a club at 120 miles an hour? That’s just two different worlds.”ADVERTISEMENT PH among economies most vulnerable to virus EDITORS’ PICK Chinese-manned vessel unsettles Bohol town “Right now, I haven’t even competed yet, so I’m at the beginning stages of that,” he said.Jack Nicklaus spoke Tuesday morning at the HSBC Business Forum in Florida and talked about how golf wasn’t nearly as important to him as competing. That’s something to which Woods can relate. What he said he missed was the competition, whether on tour or at home with friends.“But the bigger the stage,” Woods said, “the more fun for me.” TVJSports Related Videospowered by AdSparcRead Next MOST READ Senators to proceed with review of VFA Where did they go? Woods was a mixture of optimism and reality about his return. He talked about having all the shots he needs to compete against a field that includes 17 players from the top 40 and Woods, the tournament host who is at a career-low No. 898. He is playing, so he said he wants to win. The outlook is no different. The Hero World Challenge, which he started in 1999 to benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation, is effectively a holiday tournament for golf’s elite that has no cut and pays $1 million to the winner. It feels so much bigger this year because of Woods.Over the last year, he played five holes to open his new golf course, Bluejack National, outside Houston. And he took three swings with a wedge on the par-3 10th hole at Congressional during a day to promote the Quicken Loans National. All three went in the water.Everyone is curious to see how he plays. That includes Woods. His biggest concern is how far his shots will go because he hasn’t played with any adrenaline since the final round of the Wyndham Championship on Aug. 23, 2015. He doesn’t know how his game will stack up against players he watched at Hazeltine when he was an assistant captain at the Ryder Cup.His previous long break from golf was eight months when he had reconstructive surgery on his left knee after winning the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, the last of his 14 major titles. He won his opening match in the Match Play Championship and won two tournaments later at Bay Hill. That was a knee. This is a back.He was 33, not a month away from turning 41. And that was long before any chaos in his personal life.Asked what he would expect to feel Thursday at Albany Golf Club, Woods said, “I’ll let you know then, because I don’t know right now.”“Yeah, there’s nerves, of course, because I care. I care about what I do out there,” he said. “I want to win, and I want to place the ball in the correct spots, give myself the best angles and bury these putts. Trying to figure that out, yeah, there’s nerves.”Woods often talks about the “process” when he’s changing his swing. This was a different kind of process. It starts with hitting golf balls at home, then playing a practice round at home, and then bringing that game out to a tournament, competing and eventually getting into contention. …on T&T refining Guyana’s crudeWe’ve been assured by President Granger that “there’s no sellout” to T&T on the Energy MoU he signed with them…before releasing the details! Your Eyewitness is sure Guyanese have now breathed a sigh of relief. After all, the last time the President gave such an assurance was on the Exxon contract negotiated by Trotman!!The President’s obviously either very, very naïve, or he’s jerking our chain! As your Eyewitness has taken pains to point out, when dealing with businesses or other countries trying to get a piece of your action, you’ve got to work on the premise that whatever they propose is intended to promote THEIR interests. So it was with the Exxon contract, and so it is with the T&T Energy MoU. No matter how you slice it, dice it, or puree it, Rowley’s looking out for Number 1 – which sure ain’t Guyana!!The question your Eyewitness has is: How the heck does Granger know the MoU isn’t a “sellout”? Is this his personal surmise? Or was he advised by his Energy Czar? Ooops!! He couldn’t have received any advice from THAT quarter, since the fella he unilaterally appointed has absolutely NO EXPERTISE in the area!!! He and the President both assure us he’ll be hiring “experts” to advise him!! And, presumably, after that, he’ll advise the President. So, when the President vows there’s “no sellout”, like the captain of the Titanic, he’s basically whistling in the dark on a wing and a prayer! And the analogy’s quite apropos, since, like icebergs, the real import of these MoU’s is always under the water, under the table, and under the radar. The second question your Eyewitness has is: What need is there for the MoU, in the first place? The “Objective”, according to Art 1 of the MoU, is “promoting joint projects throughout the hydrocarbon value chain”.Now, since Exxon will be giving us our measly 12.5 percent share of profits and the 2 percent royalty in CRUDE oil, “projects throughout the hydrocarbon value chain” basically means we’ve agreed to refine that crude (or portions thereof) in T&T. How else do you “add value” to crude oil?? But when Rowley shut down T&T’s oil refinery, Petrotrin, he confessed that one of the reasons was because of the company’s high cost and inefficiencies! In light of that, why even discuss “adding value” to our crude with T&T?Was it the reminder Rowley slyly gave Granger about “Trinidad” – under Basdeo Panday in 1996! – writing off US$300 million of debt? Is it now time to pay back?? But that would make T&T an “Indian giver”! Is it because Panday’s an Indian??After all, Rowley did say then: “Guyana picked T&T’s pocket”!…on T&T controlling ancillary activitiesSo we move to Article 2 of the MoU: “Areas of Cooperation”. T&T’s gonna cooperate with us in “technical assistance in…exploration and production of hydrocarbon resources”. So let’s get this straight: This Government intends to start competing with Exxon and the other multinationals to “explore and produce oil and gas”?? We can’t even cap a gas leak at Diamond, and we’re going to be drilling 1 mile under the sea and another 1 mile under the continental shelf? And it’s not even Carnival or Mash time!!Then we’ve agreed to work with T&T on “the development of policies relating to local content”. We have the thousands of T&T companies now made redundant with the collapse of their oil industry, and we’ll have the T&T Government assisting in defining what’s “local content”?? So what will be different? Exxon’s definition of the cane juice vendor as supplying local content will now be changes to using T&T’s “expertise”??At least the cane juice vendor was sourcing his sugar cane locally and spending his profits at the local rum shop!!…on Executing CommitteeT&T’s and Guyana’s Energy Ministers will be implementing the MoU as the “Executing Committee”.As a petroleum geologist with 20 years’ experience, TT’s Franklyn Khan will eat Granger’s inexperienced appointee alive!!
The Gunners, languishing in sixth spot, trail fourth placed Tottenham by seven points and sit 11 points adrift of third placed Chelsea.Failure to book a place in Europe’s elite competition would be a devastating blow to a club already in decline after over seven years without a trophy and victory over West Ham is essential to keep that bid alive and, just as importantly, restore a little belief among disillusioned fans and anxious players.Walcott, who scored in Sunday’s 2-1 loss at Chelsea, agrees with Wenger that Arsenal have played too timidly in recent weeks and he called on the players to show more aggression and desire.“There are a lot of teams that have got stronger this year, so we need to step on the gas. We don’t want to be playing catch-up. We want to get points on the board,” Walcott said.“We have a tough game at home against West Ham so we need to be ready. It is a massive game, we have home support and we need to start clocking up points there.“We have been hot and cold at home of late so we must be very positive and if we show the commitment that we did in the second half against Chelsea we should be fine.“We need to show that character to win from the start, not when we concede a goal.”If Arsenal are to win their game in hand on Tottenham, they need a big performance from England international Walcott, who last week ended months of speculation about his future by agreeing a new contract.Walcott was linked with several clubs as the end of his contract approached, but Arsenal’s desire to hold onto the winger after a host of star sales over the last 18 months forced the Gunners to give him a three and a half year deal, pushing his wages close to £100,000.The 23-year-old, who was back on the wing against Chelsea after playing in his preferred central striker role for several weeks, revealed it was difficult to concentrate while his future remained in doubt.“For the last three games before Chelsea the contract was sort of done, but it was on my mind and had been for a long time because it was so close,” Walcott said.“It is difficult to play and block out that side of it, but I tried to do the best I could and hopefully everyone was happy with what I did.“I always wanted to stay and I am happy that myself and the club have come to an agreement.“There has been so much speculation and I am very pleased my future is sorted. It is all about the present now.”The main threat to Arsenal’s hopes of a much-needed win is likely to come from West Ham playmaker Joe Cole. The former Chelsea and Liverpool star is in his second spell with the Hammers and scored his first goal for the club in 10 years on Saturday to earn a 1-1 draw against QPR.West Ham will be without Morocco forward Marouane Chamakh, who is ineligible to play as he is on loan from Arsenal, but Cole still believes they can end a disappointing run of one win in seven league games.“You can have difficult moments in the season and if you can pick up points in the difficult moments you do all right,” he said.“Let’s focus on the next game at Arsenal. We want to take something from that, then you go from there.“We’ve just got to go there and stifle Arsenal a little bit and then maybe we can do something.”0Shares0000(Visited 1 times, 1 visits today) 0Shares0000LONDON, England, January 23 – Theo Walcott has warned his Arsenal team-mates they are in danger of losing the battle to finish in the Premier League’s top four unless they play with more urgency.Arsene Wenger’s side head into Wednesday’s London derby against West Ham on the back of successive league defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea which have left their bid to qualify for the Champions League in crisis.

Our next livery has been cleared for takeoff. Stay tuned right here for more from our celebration in Chicago tomorrow! pic.twitter.com/n4CJrAJERG— United Airlines (@united) April 24, 2019 Photo: United Given the plethora of blues in the new United Airlines livery, it was only fitting that it was unveiled in Chicago. The new paint job had already leaked, as these things tend to do, ahead of the ceremony and the carrier released a time-lapse video of it being applied.Speculation that the gold in the previous livery would disappear proved correct and it was in with three versions of blue: Rhapsody, Sky and United.READ our ratings for the airlineThe three blues were introduced last year, along with purple, in new uniforms. United is reducing the use of gold, which was added to the brand 30 years ago.The tail is now a gradient of all three blues and the gold and white globe on the tail is now a cleaner, mainly Sky Blue version. The gold in the sweeping line along the fuselage, known as the swoop, is now Rhapsody Blue. The new tail. Uniting the World” appears near the nose and the plane’s belly is painted “Runway Gray”.The US carrier said the modernized livery would bring a refreshed look to its fleet that was “a visual representation of United’s ongoing brand evolution while staying true to the history it has developed over the last 93 years”.“As we improve and elevate our customer experience, we are changing the way people think and feel about United, and this branding captures that new spirit,” United chief executive Oscar Munoz said in unveiling the livery.“Each improvement we’ve added to our service advances our evolution as an airline, furthering our effort to elevate and redefine customer service in the sky.“This modernized design, especially our iconic globe, enhances the very best of United’s image and values while pointing in the direction of where we intend to go next in serving our customers.”The airline said its aircraft on average receive a new paint job every seven years so it will take some time for the new livery to work its way through the airline’s 779 mainline aircraft and the 569 regional aircraft operated by affiliated carriers. The 737-800 unveiled Wednesday will be joined by a mix of narrowbody, widebody and regional aircraft with updated livery throughout the year.
The much hyped web drama “Quarterlife,” which is set to debut on MySpace on November 12, may be making the jump to television as a result of the Hollywood writers guild strike. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick-backed web show is rumored to be in talks with NBC to be used as strike-contingency programming.Zwick and Herskovitz, the creative team behind the cult hit TV show “My So-Called Life” and the Oscar-nominated film “Blood Diamond,” make up one of the more high profile teams to try their hand at a web-only production. They would follow the successful run of Michael Eisner’s “Prom Queen” earlier this year.According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Quaterlife” could appear on NBC as early as February. The show, which was initially developed for ABC three years ago, will go on with its Monday MySpace debut as planned, a spokesperson for Zwick and Herskovitz told the paper. However, Herskovitz has gone on record as saying that their MySpace contract only covers the first four hours of the show and the team would like to explore other distribution channels. This would, of course, not be the first time NBC has looked to the web for talent for its television network. Chinese hammer thrower Zhang Wenxiu was stripped of her gold medal after positive doping resultThe Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on Wednesday announced that they will return the Asian Games gold medal to Chinese hammer thrower Zhang Wenxiu after her positive doping result was cancelled. The OCA disqualified Zhang and took back her gold medal after her sample showed the presence of banned substance Zeranol, two days after her victory on September 28, last year, reports Xinhua.”Because of these findings, the Olympic Council of Asia disqualified the athlete and withdrew her gold medal, in accordance with the applicable OCA Anti-Doping Regulations,” said OCA.Zhang filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in October 2014 and had the OCA’s decision overturned.”In April 2015, following further testing performed by independent specialists, the Olympic Council of Asia was informed that such testing had established that the presence of Zeranol was, as Ms. Zhang asserted, the consequence of the consumption of contaminated food, i.e. the consumption of the Mycotoxin Zearalenone, and that Ms. Zhang did not ingest the prohibited substance detected in her sample,” said OCA in the statement.”Based on this new information and supported by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the Olympic Council of Asia recognises that Ms. Zhang did not return an Adverse Analytical Finding for the presence of Zeranol, nor therefore commit an Anti-Doping Rule Violation during the 2014 Asian Games,” it said.”Accordingly, the Olympic Council of Asia will return the gold medal to Ms. Zhang.”
